Job Description

Position Summary This position is primarily for our Seaford locations; however, employees may need to go to our Millsboro and Salisbury locations as needed for vacations, etc. The Patient Services Representative is responsible for greeting patients and gathering, verifying and entering all information into the EMR and PM systems on all incoming patients.
Position Responsibility:
  • Supports Peninsula Orthopaedic's vision, mission and values and follows all policies and procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality for any and all information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), accessible while performing job duties
  • Maintains compliance with
OSHA, HIPAA, IT
Policy, patient safety standards and all other POA requirements
  • Registers patients with accurate and complete demographics
  • Obtains correct insurance information and referrals, or waivers if appropriate
  • Obtains patient medical history information
  • Collects co-pays/monies due upon check-in and posts to batch
  • Reconciles batch before turning it over to Accounts Receivable department
  • Covers assigned area with limited absenteeism during shift
  • Provides Concierge coverage when needed
  • Greets all patients arriving for appointments
  • Prepares patients for their exams with the provider by supplying them with the proper intake forms and instructions upon arrival
  • Maintains a professional/pleasant demeanor at all times
  • Works effectively with physicians and staff
  • Maintains ethical conduct and possesses thorough attention to detail
  • Fosters teamwork
  • Demonstrates expert communication skills
  • Possesses expert customer service skills with a focus on problem resolution to complex issues
  • Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • At least two years in a front desk/customer support role
  • Previous experience in a medical office or hospital setting a plus
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand or sit for an extended period of time. Must be able to walk, talk, hear, sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 25lbs.
