Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Home Health Intake Specialist, where your organizational skills and compassionate communication will play a vital role in connecting patients with essential home health services. In this energetic role, you will be the first point of contact for new patient inquiries, coordinating intake processes efficiently while ensuring compliance with health regulations and maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality. Your proactive approach will help streamline patient onboarding, support clinical teams, and enhance overall patient experience. Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact for incoming patient referrals via phone, email, and online portals, providing clear guidance and support throughout the intake process Gather and verify patient information accurately using electronic health records (EHR) and patient management software to ensure seamless onboarding Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to collect necessary documentation and confirm coverage details Schedule initial assessments and appointments in accordance with provider availability and patient needs Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with health regulation policies and privacy laws Support medical administrative functions by updating records, managing documentation, and processing insurance claims as needed Communicate effectively with patients and clients to answer questions, provide updates, and ensure a positive experience from initial contact through service initiation Skills Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably with home health or dental office experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes Strong knowledge of health regulation policies related to patient privacy, confidentiality (such as HIPAA), and medical recordkeeping standards Familiarity with medical administrative support tasks such as appointment scheduling, billing procedures, and insurance verification Experience using patient management software and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems for data entry and management Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and client correspondence Knowledge of health insurance processes, coverage policies, and claims submission procedures Ability to type quickly and accurately while managing multiple tasks efficiently Basic understanding of medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within healthcare teams
