Chipley, FL Position Summary:
Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Financial Services Support team member to join our Fiscal Services Department. This position provides administrative and financial support for patient accounts, helping ensure accurate billing, payment processing, insurance verification, and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality while assisting patients with billing and financial questions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist patients with billing inquiries, payment arrangements, and account questions in a professional and courteous manner. Process patient payments and maintain accurate financial records. Review and update patient demographic and insurance information. Verify insurance coverage and assist with insurance-related account issues. Work with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and payment discrepancies. Process correspondence related to patient accounts, including statements and financial assistance documentation. Maintain accurate documentation within the hospital's billing system. Assist with payment posting, account reconciliation, and other fiscal support duties as assigned. Respond to patient and third-party inquiries by phone, email, and in person. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and applicable federal and state regulations. Collaborate with other hospital departments to resolve patient account concerns. Perform general clerical and administrative duties to support the Fiscal Services Department. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business, accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in healthcare billing, patient financial services, medical office, insurance, or customer service preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance is preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn hospital billing software. Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer. Frequent use of hands for typing and operating office equipment. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Schedule:
Full-Time Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements. (Subject to departmental needs.)
