REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 1-2
years working with patient accounts and resolving issues Familiar with various insurance carriers (BCBS, Tricare, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) Manage patient accounts from claim submission through final account resolution. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage, and authorization requirements. Review and resolve denied, rejected, underpaid, and unpaid claims. Follow up with insurance carriers regarding claim status and payment delays. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Process patient and insurance payments, adjustments, refunds, and account transfers. Investigate billing discrepancies and identify appropriate corrective actions. Educate patients regarding insurance benefits, account balances, and payment options. Establish and maintain payment arrangements according to organizational policies. Maintain accurate documentation of all account activity within billing systems. Review aging reports and prioritize high-dollar and delinquent accounts. Coordinate with billing, coding, payment posting, and collections teams to resolve account issues. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer guidelines. These activities are commonly performed by healthcare revenue cycle professionals managing patient accounts and reimbursement processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for resolving patient account issues, coordinating insurance follow-up activities, collecting payments, reviewing account balances, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement. This position works closely with patients, insurance carriers, providers, and internal revenue cycle teams to maintain account accuracy and enhance the patient financial experience. Responsibilities commonly include insurance verification, claim resolution, payment posting, collections, and account follow-up activities.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
