Medical Reception/Patient Registration Specialist As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play a vital role in creating a welcoming, and compassionate environment.Ideal candidates will have:
Medical office experience, Strong customer service and communication skills, with a patient centered approach. Since 1972, Orlando Orthopaedic Center has remained independently owned and has grown to include 24 orthopaedic specialists across multiple subspecialties, many of whom are recognized leaders amongst their peers nationwide. We have nine Orlando Orthopaedic Center locations throughout Central Florida, plus a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center at the heart of our downtown campus located in the trendy SoDo Shopping District just south of downtown Orlando. To provide more immediate care, we have opened several orthopaedic injury walk-in clinics located throughout Orlando and the surrounding communities. For over 50 years, our team of physicians and support staff have been getting Central Floridians back to work, back to play and back to making a difference in our community.JOB SUMMARY
With a customer service orientation—register patients, answer the telephone, prepare the office for the day, and schedule patient appointments.Work Schedule:
Monday-FridayEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma requiredQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Up to two years of experience in a medical office, telemarketing or other customer service position Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications Knowledge of practice management and word processing software Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously Proven experience handling irate patients/customers and dealing with conflict Familiarity with scheduling and rearranging appointments Working knowledge of managed care Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor Neat, professional appearance Strong written and verbal communication skills Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Telephone Answering and Scheduling "Opens" the office each day, according to protocol Answers the telephone pleasantly, and by the third ring as often as possible; routes call or takes message Schedules patient appointments: explains to patient which pieces of information they are to bring, provides a range of potential charges for the visit and the patient's financial obligation, provides patients several scheduling options, follows physician-approved scheduling guidelines Daily Preparation Runs the daily schedules one day ahead Prepare new patient paperwork for upcoming appointments Review insurance eligibility for established patients Check-In and Registration Greets patients as they arrive for scheduled appointments Provides new patients appropriate paperwork for required signatures Verifies demographic information for new and established patients, according to protocol and updates computer system as needed Reviews insurance information for new and established patients, according to protocol and contacts physician team to verify benefits when patient presents with new insurance Explains financial and collection policies to new patients—provides written guidelines to each patient Ensures the necessary patient paperwork is complete before patient is ready to be roomed by Medical Assistant Informs patients in the reception area when the physicians are running behind—offers to reschedule them Other Balance posted transactions at the end of each day Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information Keeps the patient reception area neat and clean at all times throughout the day Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Typical Physical Demands Position requires extended sitting, some standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Employee will work under stressful conditions, and work irregular hours. Typical Working Conditions Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.Job Types:
