Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English), versatile and detail-oriented Medical Office Receptionist/Eligibility Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and potential patients seeking information and/or care. You will help ensure a welcoming environment while efficiently answering the phones, managing patient eligibility and appointment scheduling. Your expertise in medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) management will help streamline clinic operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to free quality healthcare delivery through excellent customer service and administrative support. Medical Receptionist Responsibilities Welcome, greet and assist all who contact the Center (face-to-face and by telephone) by: answering questions; providing information; receiving documents brought by existing and prospective patients; referring calls to other staff members, as appropriate; etc. Maintain the front desk/reception area to include all forms needed. Schedule/cancel/reschedule appointments for patients at STCC according to guidelines made Executive Director. Input/update patient accounts in Electronic Health Records (EHR) program. Place telephone calls to assist with referrals, confirm patient appointments or any other out-going communication request from the clinical staff. Assists with the inventory and ordering of office supplies. Create and maintain physician calendars. Eligibility Specialist Responsibilities Inform/educate potential patients of eligibility process. Serve as Eligibility and Referral Interviewer, evaluating and approving eligibility of new patients. Maintain certification by the Department of Health. Enter initial patient demographics and scan documentation into EHR. Oversees DOH policy compliance in regards to patient eligibility and dismissals. Maintains hardcopies of all patient eligibility information as required by DOH. Scan all eligibility documents into EHR system Other Responsibilities Schedule, patient visits both medical and mental health Serve as patient advocate, assisting with and coordinating patient's other needs (housing, food, transportation, etc). Assist with all fundraising events and any other work related activities. Assists in maintaining patient encounter statistics as well as all vital statistics needed for value analysis reporting. Helps clinical staff with the maintenance of a clean safe environment for patient care. Assist other staff in their duties as necessary and requested within scope of center's policies, procedures and protocols.
Qualifications Minimum:
High school graduate, GED or equivalent.
Minimum:
Demonstrated clerical skills (typing, filing, telephone courtesy).
Minimum:
2 years medical office/reception experience.
Required:
Must be able to speak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner with excellent customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) systems Must be able to display excellent telephone/switchboard etiquette. Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to work with general guidance. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times. Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in office procedures and administrative tasks Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse populations Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
