Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Receives patients at registration areas in a courteous, professional manner verifying demographic and insurance information. Collects copays, down payments and time of service payments from patients. Schedules appointments and communicates with patients regarding cancellations or rescheduling as appropriate. Answers all incoming telephone lines and transfers calls or takes messages appropriately. Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; meters/stamps outgoing mail. Balances cash payments and petty cash drawers. This is a PRN - as needed - position
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/certification:
None Previous Work Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in use of 10-key calculator and working knowledge of computer required. Six months previous work experience in customer service or medical office preferred.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally in English with people from diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds. Ability to read and write legibly and understand/follow written and verbal directions. Ability to project a friendly, caring, professional attitude and pleasant professional telephone voice in communication with patients and the general public. Auditory acuity required for receiving verbal information over the telephone. Requires organizational and self motivational skills in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Ability to remain calm, cheerful, and professional in stressful situations and focused amid interruptions in a fast paced environment.
