Job Description

The primary duties of the clinic patient access representative include answering telephones and directing questions and messages to the appropriate staff, scheduling and coordinating patient contacts, computer operations that support patient financial services and patient billing, and some collection of accounts. Greets patients, coordinates patient services to include appropriate and timely scheduling of appointments, screening and routing of patient and non-patient inquiries and correspondence to the appropriate personnel. Answers phones, takes messages, and correctly creates lab, x-ray and other service encounters as needed. Gathers and maintains patient information as required for medical records, billing process, and updates information as needed. Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays, directs the patient to the appropriate personnel for billing and collection issues. Coordinates with and supports activities of the clinical nursing staff and clinical physicians. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment. Participate in mandatory training on EHR and UKG (Time & Attendance) and demonstrate basic competency in the functions applicable to their role. Works with the PFS staff for coordination of patient care and registration activities. Performs other duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent preferred Intermediate computer skills required. One -two years of healthcare industry experience preferred. Apply @ www.syringahospital.org
