Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Registrar serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a critical role in creating a positive patient experience. This position is responsible for accurately registering patients for emergency, outpatient, and inpatient services while ensuring complete demographic, insurance, financial, and authorization information is collected. The Registrar delivers exceptional customer service while supporting efficient patient flow, revenue cycle integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Task Expectations:
Patient RegistrationDocumentation Register patients accurately for emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and procedural services. Obtain and enter complete demographic and billing information. Maintain minimum registration accuracy standard of 97% or greater . Obtain all required signatures and consents. Process admissions, transfers, and discharges timely and accurately. Apply patient identification bands according to policy. Insurance VerificationFinancial Clearance Verify insurance eligibility and coverage.
Collect and document:
Insurance policy information Subscriber information Referral/preauthorization details Workers compensation or auto claim information when applicable Scan and maintain insurance cards and identification. Collect co-pays, deductibles, and patient balances according to policy. Document collection activity and payment discussions. Refer self-pay patients to Financial Counseling. AdministrativeOperational Support Answer incoming calls professionally and route appropriately. Process incoming registration documents and faxes. Maintain organized patient records and filing practices. Direct patients and visitors appropriately throughout the facility. Support department productivity and patient throughput goals. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
Previous patient registration, scheduling, medical office, healthcare customer service, or admissions experience preferred Insurance verification or healthcare billing experience preferred
