Job Description

You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients. Job Summary Our client is seeking a Patient Account Representative responsible for managing accounts receivable and claims management in a medical billing environment. The primary responsibilities include following up on outstanding insurance claims and ensuring accurate reimbursement through coordination with insurance carriers and internal teams. Key Responsibilities Manage and follow up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. Research, resolve, and document claim issues within AdvancedMD. Review aging reports and prioritize outstanding accounts for follow-up. Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain claim status and resolve billing issues. Submit corrected claims and supporting documentation as needed to facilitate payment. Monitor claims through payer portals to track payment status and resolve payment delays. Investigate denied or underpaid claims, prepare appeals, and collaborate with insurance representatives and internal teams. Maintain accurate records within AdvancedMD and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in medical billing or health insurance, with strong knowledge of insurance guidelines and medical documentation. Experience working in a large physician practice (50+ doctors) is preferred. Ability to work 200+ claims a week and solve problems quickly. Experience with AdvancedMD is strongly preferred. Texas insurance experience is a plus. Skills Proficiency in AdvancedMD and claims management. Strong problem-solving abilities and quick response to inquiries. Benefits Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances). Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)). 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
