Job Description
Job Summary As a Referral Specialist, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the referral process for patients in a healthcare setting. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate patient referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed. Duties
- Obtain necessary patient information for referral processing
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations for referrals
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status
- Ensure all referrals are processed accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain detailed and organized referral records
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure appropriate referrals are made
- Stay updated on medical coding, terminology, and insurance verification procedures Experience
- Proficiency in HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of medical coding systems such as
ICD-9, ICD-10
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Experience in insurance verification processes
- Previous work in a medical office or dental office setting is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Experience managing medical records and referral documentation
