Job Description

Job Summary As a Referral Specialist, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the referral process for patients in a healthcare setting. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate patient referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed. Duties
  • Obtain necessary patient information for referral processing
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations for referrals
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status
  • Ensure all referrals are processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain detailed and organized referral records
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure appropriate referrals are made
  • Stay updated on medical coding, terminology, and insurance verification procedures Experience
  • Proficiency in HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems such as
ICD-9, ICD-10
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
  • Experience in insurance verification processes
  • Previous work in a medical office or dental office setting is advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Experience managing medical records and referral documentation
