Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Job Description:
Patient Intake Specialist Title:
Patient Intake Specialist Main function The Patient Intake Specialist provides a range of entry level intake and associated services pertaining to patients. Duties and responsibilities- Greet patients, vendors and guests in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner.
- Performs patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Responsive to patient requests and concerns.
- Verify that insurance information is accurate for each visit. Scan current copy of insurance card.
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance and/or previous patient balances as indicated.
- Review patient information forms for adequacy and accuracy; update in computer.
- Scan documents into electronic medical record as appropriate.
- Maintain cashiering process; print receipts and balance receipts on a daily basis.
- Schedule follow-up office visits.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and schedule appointments or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Obtain and enter demographic information for new patients and update established patients records according to protocol.
- Obtain and/or confirm necessary patient authorizations and referrals.
- Print add-on fee slips as needed.
- Review appointment list for missing charts and communicate with Medical Records regarding charts that are needed.
- Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA
- Perform other duties as requested by Manager, Director or Physician. Qualifications-Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow HIPAA and other compliance guidelines
- Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and providers
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general public
- Ability to document processes and improve their efficiency.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
- Work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
- Appropriately interact with patients, families, and others
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands
- Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work late some days and adjust time of lunch break on busy clinic days.
Director of Operations Classification:
Non-exempt. Generally non-exempt employees work 40 hours per week. Contacts Patients Patients' family/significant others Physicians and physician office personnel Administration All positions with Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are to use due care in the use and communication of patients' protected health information. It is every employee's principal job function to ensure patient confidentiality and failure to maintain confidentiality may, and will, result in sanction and/or discharge.Job Type:
