Job Description

More than two years experience in health information. Previous experience with trauma registries, data base systems is strongly preferred. Training for trauma registry, trauma registry certification, and certified coding specialist certification or Certified Professional in Health Care Quality is preferred. Four hours of CEU's per year in Trauma Registry. Pikeville Medical Center's Trauma Registrar's primary responsibility is to assure complete and accurate data is collected and maintained for all trauma patients diagnosed and/or treated at PMC trauma Center as identified by criteria selected by the American College of Surgeons; defined in the Resources for optimal Care of the injured Patient 2006 or most current version in effect. (Ensure the hospital remains compliant with all standards as they relate to Joint Commission, the American College of Surgeons, National Trauma Data Base and Kentucky Statewide Data Base). Trauma Registrar is responsible for obtaining, abstracting, correcting, and entering appropriate patient data both concurrently and retrospectively and assigns the Injury Severity Scores to all trauma patients at PMC in order to maintain an accurate and concurrent trauma patient database. In addition, responsibility for compiling statistics, preparing reports, on trauma populations, and performing data searches for trauma related research projects.
