Abbeville General Hospital is hiring for a
Patient Account Representative Position :
Full time Patient Account Representative (8a - 4:30p).
Patient Account Representative Job Summary:
Process cash, check, and credit card payments for patient accounts through upfront collections, telephone, fax, and web-based payment systems. Post payments accurately to patient accounts, hospital and clinic visits, and designated miscellaneous accounts. Balance daily cash receipts, journals, deposits, and payment transactions. Prepare and document daily deposits, including deposit logs and supporting documentation. Manage and reconcile petty cash funds. Answer incoming calls and assist patients with billing and payment inquiries. Scan and maintain patient documentation, including insurance cards and authorizations. Report collection agency payments received on accounts that have been assigned for collection. Demonstrate excellent customer service by treating patients, visitors, and coworkers with courtesy, respect, and professionalism. Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and hospital information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
Patient Account Representative Required Experience:
Previous experience in medical billing, patient accounting, business office operations, cash handling, or customer service preferred . Experience handling financial transactions and balancing cash drawers preferred . Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, coworkers, and external agencies. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements preferred .
Patient Account Representative Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework or training in business, accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred .
Patient Account Representative Physical Requirements :
Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as walking about from patients' rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas
