Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will serve as the backbone of our medical practice, ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Your expertise in medical administrative support, electronic health records management, and clinical documentation review will help facilitate efficient patient care and office workflows. Duties Manage front desk operations including patient check-in, appointment scheduling, and phone communication with professionalism and courtesy Maintain accurate medical records by organizing, filing, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms Review clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies Assist with medical billing processes including insurance verification, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and collection of payments Support care plan coordination by documenting patient interactions and updating health information management systems Handle medical coding tasks related to ICD coding and CPT coding to ensure proper reimbursement and record accuracy Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a positive clinic experience Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting with strong clerical skills and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks Knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and private insurance billing processes Ability to review medical documentation thoroughly while maintaining accuracy in medical records management Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel for administrative tasks Excellent phone etiquette with strong communication skills for patient interaction and appointment coordination Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA Experience with medical coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) and billing procedures is preferred Previous clinic or dental clinic experience is a plus; familiarity with health information management is advantageous Demonstrated ability to multitask efficiently in a busy healthcare environment while maintaining attention to detail Join us in delivering outstanding healthcare support!
