Optician - Technical Expertise, Patient Care & Optical Excellence | Southern Maine Important Sales Disclaimer This is a patient-facing, sales-supportive optical position . While technical skills are central to this role, opticians at Seacoast Vision Care work to educate patients, support eyewear sales, and collaborate with Optical Stylists to deliver a seamless purchase experience. Help Us Change Lives—One Pair of Glasses at a Time Seacoast Vision Care is seeking a skilled, patient-focused Optician to join our modern optometry practice and optical boutique in southern Maine. Who We Are We're a private practice where clinical excellence meets curated style. Our mission is to help patients see and feel their best through precision optics, personalized service, and beautifully selected eyewear . Your Role As an Optician, you'll be the technical expert ensuring prescriptions are interpreted accurately, eyewear is fabricated correctly, and every patient leaves with perfectly fitted glasses. You'll collaborate closely with Optical Stylists and providers, with opportunities for cross-training in styling and sales. What You'll Do Interpret and verify eyeglass prescriptions Take precise measurements (PD, seg height, etc.) Fit, adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear Inspect and verify lenses prior to dispensing Educate patients on lens designs, materials, coatings, and care Communicate with optical labs and vendors Accurately enter orders and patient data into the EMR Support inventory management and lens ordering Assist with patient questions and order follow-ups Support clinical team with pre-testing and patient care as needed Collaborate with Optical Stylists to ensure a smooth sales-to-dispensing transition What You Bring Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy Clear, professional communication skills Comfort explaining optical concepts in patient-friendly terms Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards Solid math and measurement skills Organized, dependable, and tech-comfortable Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to cross-train Commitment to excellent patient flow and service Bonus Points If You Are a licensed dispensing optician Hold ABO certification (preferred, not required) Have 2+ years of optical experience and vision plan knowledge Have experience in a boutique or private practice setting Why You'll Love It Here Competitive pay based on experience Ongoing training and professional development Paid time off No nights or weekends Supportive, collaborative team culture Beautiful coastal Maine location The Fine Print Hours are during normal business hours Majority patient-facing role Must adhere to patient confidentiality standards
