_PARAGRAPH JOB_DESCRIPTION.SHARE.HTML Clare, Michigan Management any Regular Full-Time Any Shift Admitting 47057 Job Description Summary This position is responsible for the daily operation of inpatient admitting, ambulatory registration, outpatient registration sites, ED registration, and the preauthorization function. This position is responsible to promote point-of-service collection in the ED, ambulatory surgery, and the outpatient diagnostic areas. This position assures that each function related to the admission/registration process is operating in such a manner that productivity, accuracy, customer service skills, and regulatory requirements are maintained at a very high level. Responsibilities include hiring new staff, conducting Job Performance Review's, counseling/disciplines of personnel and scheduling staff. Responsibilities (50%)
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the admitting areas including scheduling of staff. (30%)
- Evaluate and monitor employee performance on a daily basis to ensure the collection of accurate information from the patient and correct input of data in accordance with Admitting Policies and Procedures. The purpose will be for the development of a quality control process to improve data integrity. (20%)
- Provide support and direction at the different access points to ensure smooth overall flow of patients.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform timely annual Job Performance Reviews for each admitting employee. Facilitate and coordinate training and continuing education of admitting staff. Responsible for confirming and authorizing pay for time worked. Provide in-services and communication of all Policy and Procedure updates as needed for admitting staff. Initiate and facilitate problem solving with hospital ancillary departments, physician offices, the billing department, and patients to resolve problems, inquiries and complaints. Monitor effectiveness of current policies and procedures and recommend modifications as needed. Maintain fiscal responsibility for monitoring the department operating budgets. Participate in system-wide quality improvement initiatives/teams. Other duties as assigned. Certifications and Licensures CHAM:
Cert Healthcare Access Manager preferred Required Education High school diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree required within 24 months of hire or transfer. Other Information
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Three to five years experience in Patient Accounting, Admitting, or similar capacity in a healthcare setting. Outstanding customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, problem solving and mentoring skills. Proficiency in Excel and Word, analytical skills, human relations/interviewing skills. Ability to work in a team setting. Experience in a supervisory capacity with experience in interviewing, evaluating, counseling, and disciplining of employees is preferred. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully, individually and with groups and interact with employees at all levels within the medical center. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
