Job Description

Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Services Representative (PSR) to join our growing healthcare team. The Patient Services Representative (PSR) is the first point of contact for patients accessing after-hours outpatient care. This role supports patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and front-desk operations to ensure an efficient and compassionate patient experience. The PSR plays a vital role in maintaining clinic workflow during evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. Collect co-pays and outstanding balances as applicable. Register patients accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Schedule follow-up appointments or refer to appropriate departments as needed. Answer incoming calls and provide information or direct to appropriate personnel. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support clinical staff with non-clinical tasks to facilitate patient flow. Monitor the lobby/waiting area to ensure safety and service standards. Reconcile end-of-shift cash drawers and payment logs. Maintain knowledge of clinic hours, services, and provider schedules. Adhere to clinic policies regarding emergency response and closing procedures. Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years in a medical front office or customer service setting, preferably in urgent care or outpatient services preferred Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans (Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial).
