Insurance Verification Representative I Location:
Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Monday-Friday, Standard Hours Why You'll Love Working Here As an Insurance Verification Representative I at UNC Health Appalachian , you'll obtain pre-certification and insurance verification for patient admissions, helping ensure a smooth, financially clear admissions experience. Compensation:
Starting at $16.97 per hour, based on education and experience.

What You'll Do as an Insurance Verification Representative I Obtain pre-certification and benefits verification for all patient admissions. Contact insurance providers to verify coverage, network status, and financial responsibilities . Process patient registration and admission information accurately and efficiently. Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to facilitate a seamless admission process . Maintain compliance with hospital policies, insurance regulations, and patient confidentiality standards. Provide exceptional customer service to enhance the patient experience.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
3-6 months of experience in a medical office, clinic, or acute care setting preferred, but not required.
Licensure/Certifications:
None required.
Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of patient admissions and scheduling processes. Strong communication skills for patient interactions, insurance verification, and care coordination. Proficiency with computer systems, faxing, phone operations, and document scanning. Attention to compliance, detail, and financial accuracy. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff. Physical & Work Environment Prolonged sitting, with periods of standing and walking, often 7+ hours per day . Occasional bending, squatting, twisting, and turning. Near visual acuity for computer and document review tasks. Standard office environment.
