Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Patient Care Representative to join our healthcare team as a key front-line ambassador. In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient check-in and check-out processes with enthusiasm and professionalism, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for every patient. Your role will involve coordinating appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient service while supporting the operational efficiency of our healthcare facility. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify their identity, and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records). Collect and update patient demographic information, insurance details, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Schedule appointments efficiently, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage clinic calendars. Check out patients after their visit by reviewing billing information, processing payments, and providing clear instructions for follow-up care or next steps. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance pre-authorizations or referrals when necessary, and assist with insurance verification processes for Medicare or other plans. Maintain accurate documentation review of patient records, medical histories, care plans, and coding details including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 codes for billing purposes. Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, respond promptly to patient inquiries, and direct calls appropriately to ensure excellent customer service. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with strong knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures. Knowledge of eClinical Works a plus. Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, insurance verification processes, and Medicare guidelines. Excellent communication skills with a friendly phone etiquette. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance at all times by safeguarding sensitive health information. Prior clinic experience is preferred. Demonstrated clerical skills including typing (10-key), filing, and managing multi-line phone systems; previous medical receptionist or front desk experience is highly valued.
