Position Overview The Director of Patient Support Services oversees the activities of the medical records and referrals department and plays an integral role in monitoring and leading value-based care initiatives. The director must have a working knowledge of health information technology (including coding, eCQM, and medical terminology) and be able to assess system functionality and develop processes to ensure work is done in an efficient and timely manner. The director must have working knowledge regarding HIPAA and the requirements for protecting health information. The director understands the concepts of compliance, risk management, quality assurance and value-based reimbursement.
THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR WORKWEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-WEEKLY PAY.
Essential Tasks Provides direct supervision to the Medical Record Supervisor and Referrals Supervisor. This includes but is not limited to interviewing, hiring, providing training and orientation, distribution and determination of responsibilities, and the on-going evaluation of the staffs' performance. Assess, develop and monitor functionality and workflows in the electronic health records system to ensure efficient processing and retrieval of medical records and specialty referrals. Provides back up to medical records and referrals with needed. Facilitates access for staff to payer platforms, Care Link and other hospital systems for the submission and retrieval of specialty and imaging reports. Oversees the Rex Hospital Mobile Mammography Bus clinic days to ensure women receive their screening mammograms. Serve as a Site Specialist for OCHIN Epic and a contact person for staff regarding system issues, password resets, etc. Responsible for compliance with HIPAA and HITECH rules and regulations as applied within Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc.. Maintains current knowledge of revisions to HIPAA and HITECH regulations. Experience and Education A bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or Science in Nursing. Minimum two years' experience working in a health care facility with a focus on medical records, referrals, and/or similar experience and two years of supervisory/management experience is required. Team player with effective organizational and communication skills. Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and experience with electronic health record systems. Schedule Monday to Friday 8 am - 5 pm 8-hour shift On site Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking, occasional bending, stooping, lifting, reaching forward and overhead. May occasionally be required to lift patients, office equipment and paper, usually not exceeding fifty pounds of direct lift. Frequent computer work required. Base Pay Overview The starting pay for this position is $85,280.00 annually. Please keep in mind that actual salary will vary based on various factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
