Assistant Vice President, Access Integration Management / Patient Access, Innovation and Optimization The Assistant Vice President of Patient Access, Innovation and Optimization is responsible for advancing a patient-centered, systemwide access model across ambulatory, inpatient, and outpatient settings. The role is responsible for facilitating and integrating workflows, functions and systems across centralized scheduling, registration, referral management, Epic-enabled workflow optimization, front-end revenue cycle performance, and enterprise performance improvement. The leader translates access strategy into measurable operating results that improve the patient experience, increase timely access to care, strengthen registration accuracy, support revenue capture, and align access operations with organizational priorities. The role works collaboratively with multiple provider platforms such as the Medical Group and Joint Ventures, IT, Finance/Revenue Cycle, Strategy, and other clinical, administrative, operational, and financial stakeholders to standardize processes, facilitate high-performing teams, implement performance improvement initiatives, and support sustainable enterprise value. As Assistant Vice President of Patient Access, Innovation and Optimization, a typical day might include the following: Reviewing daily operational, financial, and access dashboards-including scheduling backlogs, registration accuracy, and denial trends-to identify emerging bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement Meeting with clinical, financial, IT, and administrative stakeholders to align systemwide workflows across ambulatory, inpatient, and outpatient settings Evaluating Epic-enabled modules, work queues, and front-end revenue cycle performance to streamline centralized scheduling, registration, and referral management. Leading or facilitating continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and Lean Six Sigma projects to standardize processes and enhance the patient experience Tracking ongoing enterprise performance projects, reviewing project documentation and KPIs, and escalating risks or operational barriers to senior leadership Coaching multidisciplinary, matrixed teams and supporting staff development to build high-performing, sustainable access operations This role might be for you if: You possess expert mastery of Epic access-related modules, dashboards, and front-end revenue cycle workflows You thrive in complex environments, managing systemwide healthcare operations across large, matrixed health organizations You love data-driven improvement, using analytics and Lean Six Sigma tools to solve complex operational issues You bridge organizational silos, collaborating smoothly with IT, finance, strategy, and clinical leaders You excel at project leadership, tracking clear timelines, KPIs, and measurable results from charter to execution You lead with strong autonomy, mentoring multi-disciplinary teams while maintaining deep alignment with company values To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business, Finance, or a related field, alongside progressive leadership experience in patient access, front-end revenue cycle performance, and centralized scheduling within a large, complex healthcare environment or academic medical center. You need expert-level mastery of Epic access-related modules, dashboards, and workflows to drive systemwide operational changes. Additionally, this role requires demonstrated capability in using complex data analytics to compile executive-level reports, alongside exceptional communication skills to align multi-disciplinary, matrixed teams. A Master's degree and formal training in performance improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma are strongly preferred to successfully execute strategic, enterprise-wide project management.
