Job Details Physician Office | Eaton | Full-Time | First Shift Responsibilities & Requirements The Medical Office Assistant supports patient care, safety, and access by performing administrative tasks in a medical office or outpatient setting. This role ensures efficient front office operations, accurate recordkeeping, and a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program. Required Education High school diploma or equivalent. Skills Basic computer proficiency, including use of electronic health record (EHR) systems Strong written and verbal communication Attention to detail Ability to multitask and prioritize Customer service orientation Basic understanding of medical terminology Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations Essential Functions Greet and check in patients and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment. Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems. Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and billing information; process co-payments and assist with billing inquiries. Answer and direct incoming phone calls, responding to patient questions or routing calls appropriately. Assist patients in completing intake forms and consent documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, scanning and uploading documents as needed. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and assist with processing insurance claims. Order and monitor inventory of office and medical supplies, notifying appropriate staff of low stock. Support compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and organizational safety standards. Participate in team meetings and quality improvement activities as requested. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a medical office administration program from an accredited institution. One year of experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, or healthcare administrative support role.
