Other (United States of America) Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position Primary responsibilities include front desk, scheduling, registration, point of service collection and promoting the values and mission of BSMH. Essential Job Functions Schedules the correct procedure at the appropriate facility and appropriate time, while also ensuring assignment of proper patient types. Collects and accurately documents initial pre-certification / authorization information if available when scheduling Accurately obtains / validates / documents patient demographic, insurance and clinical information and assigns correct payer plan code Accurately pre-registers patients, including selection of proper medical record number for patient safety Completes insurance verification and eligibility checks Calculates patient liabilities and actively collects and processes patient payments Receives and processes physician orders received via fax, Order Facilitator, EPIC or any other method available for receiving pre-service orders. Performs medical necessity / compliance checks to ensure services meet medical necessity based on Medicare Local Coverage Determination (LCD) and communicates ABN requirements to physician offices if scheduled service(s) is not medically necessary. Performs front desk duties inclusive of patient check-in and escorting/assisting patient to gowned reception area. Corrects registration errors identified during pre-registration. Follows up on missing orders, ensures that requested orders are received and on file prior to services being rendered Demonstrates problem solving skills related to scheduling, registration, financial clearance and patient liability This document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. Employment Qualifications Education Qualifications - List the minimum education, training, and experience required to perform the essential functions of the position.Required Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Graduate of business school preferred. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Years and Type of Experience 1-2 years of healthcare experience preferred 1-2years of extensive customer service experience preferred. Experience in multiple areas of pre-access (scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance) preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred Medical terminology and knowledge of insurance preferred Combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.
