Job Description

DEFINITION
Under the supervision of a Patient Access Supervisor, the financial service specialist obtains required information of insurance verification and financial screening. The Financial Service Specialist (FSS) will be responsible for counseling patients or parties responsible for payment that includes the patients obligations for both Facility and Professional fees. The Financial Service Specialist will educate patients on their responsibilities and help them obtain financial assistance with suggested third party vendors the facility is currently using. The FSS is responsible for accurately and compassionately explaining to the patient their financial obligations during the financial counseling session.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of Collections and Customer Service in healthcare
Education:
High School Graduate or equivalent At least 2 years of credit, collection or financial counseling experience required Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and outside agencies Ability to work in a team environment Excellent written and oral communication skills Positive, driven attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile to help patients and the hospital.
