Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Front Desk Receptionist! In this vital role, you will be the welcoming face and first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare providers. Your energetic and organized approach will ensure smooth clinic operations, efficient patient flow, and exceptional customer service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your medical administrative expertise in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. You will play a crucial role in managing appointments, verifying insurance, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Schedule We are needing someone to work 4 days every 2 weeks (32-35 hours per pay period) Work hours for this position will be every other week Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy Schedule patient appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems: NextGen Healthcare Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks using platforms like Athenahealth or other health information management systems Collect and process payments, including medical collections and billing procedures aligned with HIPAA compliance standards Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring all documentation review and data entry are thorough and precise Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, ICD coding, and documentation review to support billing accuracy Support clinical staff with care plan documentation, medical records management, and office management tasks such as filing and data entry Use computer skills to update patient information in various EMR systems while adhering to health insurance knowledge requirements for verification purposes Handle administrative support duties like faxing, scanning documents, managing office supplies, and maintaining filing systems Experience Prior clinic or medical office experience is essential; familiarity with dental or hospital environments is highly valued Demonstrated proficiency in EMR systems is required Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA regulations, insurance verification, and medical billing procedures Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) and documentation review to ensure billing accuracy is preferred Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication are vital for success in this role Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with typing skills (including 10 key typing) supports efficient administrative workflows Office management skills such as filing, multi-line phone handling, appointment scheduling, and electronic health records management are highly desirable Join us to be part of a dedicated healthcare team where your organizational talents and compassionate service make a real difference!
