Weekdays 8:00am-5:00pm Full-time, 40 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for accurate and timely posting, billing or account resolution as assigned to contribute to the success of the Drummond Eye Clinic (DEC) team objectives. Analyzes and takes appropriate action steps according to DEC protocols. Responds appropriately to patient and other customer inquiries. Achieves required payer knowledge and coordinates appropriately with hospital departments, clinics, or patients to resolve coverage issues. Strives to achieve targeted benchmarks and exceed collection goals for prompt account resolution. Communicates timely and appropriately with DEC leadership team to identify and resolve payer/claim submission issues. Performs assigned duties independently with guidance from manager or team leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or equivalent and some college preferred Experience working in medical office and/or hospital billing environment Ability to perform basic mathematical tasks Knowledge of insurance claims processing and managed care plan benefits Understands the purpose of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and Revenue Codes Knowledge of UB-04 and/or
CMS 1500
claims and electronic claims submission Demonstrates effective analytical, oral, and written communication skill Knowledge of basic medical terminology Understand the ethics of confidentiality and healthcare compliance Average computer and data entry skills as required in the healthcare industry Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook) Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments daily
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to sit and maintain work focus for extended periods of time Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to meet necessary meeting, training, and work schedules Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections. Adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare reports and read written materials. Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and families. Able to hear to converse with others on the phone Demonstrates the ability to make decisions and accomplish tasks in a high work volume environment to meet the necessary goals and deadlines Demonstrates adequate vision to read and prepare documents accurately Possess motor skills and coordination to effectively use computers and office equipment
