Job Description

We are looking for a Patient Service Rep to support front-end patient services for a busy primary care practice in Plumsteadville, PA. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients, managing scheduling and insurance-related tasks, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The position also offers the potential to transition into a staff role, so we are seeking candidates who are interested in long-term growth with the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients professionally, provide service at check-in and check-out, and create a positive experience throughout each visit.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and referral-related visits while balancing provider availability and office workflows.
  • Verify patient demographics, update electronic medical records, and maintain accurate documentation within Epic or similar EMR systems.
  • Review insurance information, confirm eligibility, and assist with obtaining referrals, prior authorizations, and other required approvals.
  • Collect copays and support routine financial tasks, including payment posting support and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Address patient questions, troubleshoot service concerns, and escalate more complex issues according to office protocols.
  • Protect confidential health information and carry out all daily activities in accordance with HIPAA and compliance standards.
  • Participate in training activities and adapt to evolving procedures, workflows, or system-related updates within the practice.
  • Previous experience in a patient access, medical office, customer service, or front desk support role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Hands-on experience scheduling appointments and managing high-volume calendars in a healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, copay collection, and patient registration processes.
  • Familiarity with Epic software or other electronic medical record systems is preferred.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures and compliance requirements.
