Summary Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Provides other support services, dictated by patient needs, as a care delivery team member. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives. Job Duties Provides care to and related activities for designated patients using a patient/family centered approach and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Employs astute observational skills and properly communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN. Uses effective and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues. Functions as a department team member to support unit-based patient experience goals as well as hospital goals and objectives. Demonstrates team building skills by participating in the orientation of new staff, as assigned. Performs validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice. Utilizes technology and incorporates technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery. Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable. Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies. or Successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course. Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports. Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies. Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care. Basic computer skills. BLS

  • American Heart Association within 180 Days Additional Qualifications Successful completion of orientation.
Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
Examples:
Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
  • Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
