  • Time Off / Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) About the Role The Director of Hospital Patient Financial Services provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital revenue cycle operations, including billing, claims management, accounts receivable, denial prevention and resolution, collections, financial assistance, and reimbursement optimization.

This leader partners across finance, patient access, HIM, IT, and clinical departments to improve revenue integrity, cash performance, operational efficiency, compliance, and the overall patient financial experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hospital patient financial services operations, including billing, claims submission, payment posting, AR follow-up, collections, denial management, and financial assistance programs
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, controls, and workflows that support compliant and accurate billing practices
  • Monitor key revenue cycle metrics, including AR days, denial rates, collections, bad debt, payment posting timeliness, and aging trends
  • Drive denial prevention and recovery initiatives through root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on payer requirements, hospital billing regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement methodologies
  • Collaborate with Finance, Patient Access, HIM, Clinical Operations, and IT to improve revenue cycle performance and account accuracy
  • Oversee vendor relationships and ensure accountability for operational and financial outcomes
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce manual work, and improve reimbursement results
  • Prepare operational and executive reporting related to revenue cycle performance, trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Manage departmental budgets, productivity standards, team performance, succession planning, and staff development
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, reimbursement optimization strategies, and revenue integrity initiatives Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of hospital revenue cycle, patient financial services, or hospital billing experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a manager
  • or director-level role
  • Strong knowledge of hospital billing regulations, reimbursement methodologies, denial management, and AR oversight
  • Experience utilizing revenue cycle technology, reporting tools, operational analytics, and performance dashboards
  • Demonstrated success improving revenue cycle outcomes and financial performance metrics
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, collaboration, and change management skills
  • Ability to analyze complex operational and financial challenges and implement effective solutions Top Skills
