39 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Employee relationship building High school diploma or GED Cash register operations Full Job Description Schedule is 9:30-6:30 Monday-Friday Position Overview The incumbent provides customer service by serving as a cashier at The Eye Center. The incumbent also performs data entry, filing and record keeping, communications, third party resolution and other duties. Essential Functions Verifies personal and insurance information and inputs into the electronic health record (EHR). Performs other duties required for patient flow desk. Verifies appropriate coding of diagnoses and procedures. Files primary and secondary insurance for patient services. Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures of all third-party payors who participate in the College. Communicates all updates/problems, past due accounts, changes in coding requirements, etc. to the Director of Clinic Operations. Receives monies, accepts payments (cash and credit cards), makes change and performs other duties involved with receiving patient payments. Computes fees on patient fee statements, explains and answers questions regarding patient charges. Reviews fee sheet for doctor's signature and other details. Posts checks for assigned plan(s). Performs all functions of billing, including research and special projects. Maintains and secures cash drawer. Answers inquiries via phone and in person. Files patient documents, prepares new files, purges files and ensures that files are returned to appropriate area. Files insurance claims for payment. Assists DCO in creating, implementation, and monitoring of policies intended to minimize data entry errors associated with ledger entries in Compulink. Maintains inventory and orders supplies Maintains office equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

One year's related experience. Prior experience in a health care environment is preferred. Knowledge and/or experience with health insurance plans preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to file and maintain accurate medical records. Ability to balance a cash drawer Ability to enter data accurately. Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of workflow. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work independently. Ability to deal with others with courtesy and tact using good verbal communication skills and to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately for daily tasks. Physical and Environmental Demands Physical Demands Prolonged standing with occasional walking and sitting. Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. May be required to reach up to six feet overhead. Audible Demands Use of phone, verbal communication with patients, staff and faculty. Visual Demands Operation of phone system, computer, preparation of forms and documents, reading handwriting. Environmental Conditions Work is conducted in a typical indoor work environment with good lighting, noise and temperature control. Hazards Minimal risk of injury or work-related illnesses. Other Responsibilities Employee must maintain confidentiality of all medical and insurance records. Employee must be able to operate computer, cash register and credit card machine.
