Job Description

Where You'll Work St. Joseph Health has been caring for the communities in and surrounding the Brazos Valley since 1936 (Bryan/College Station, Navasota, Caldwell, Madisonville (TX)). St. Joseph has a Level III Trauma Center, the first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center and the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Director of Patient Care, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for specific patient care units or services, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, high-quality care.

Every day you will manage, mentor, and develop nursing staff, oversee patient safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize clinical workflows to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, clinical expertise, and strategic management skills, crucial for fostering a culture of excellence, driving continuous improvement, and achieving organizational goals in patient care. Monitors metrics to validate performance against national and system benchmarks; ensures the delivery of competent clinical practice. Develops leadership within the hospital which supports and maintains excellence in the standards of research based nursing practice. Develops, integrates, and implements goals of the hospital and nursing into their service line(s). Leads quality programs and works to develop action places for continuous improvement. Develops, reviews, and maintains fiscal budget within established targets. Monitors overtime, labor costs, medical supply expenses, and works with purchasing partner to obtain strong supply contract pricing. Assures staffing patterns are flexed and according to unit activity and patient acuity. Job Requirements Required Bachelors Of Science Nursing and Four (4) years of nursing experience in a tertiary acute care hospital, upon hire and Masters Nursing, MBA, or MHA (Internal candidates are required to complete Master's program within 3 years) and five (5) years of management experience at the nurse manager level or above.
