Job Description
Summary The Patient Care Equipment Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, delivering, and maintaining medical equipment used in patient care. This role ensures that equipment is safe, functional, and readily available to support healthcare staff and patient needs throughout the hospital. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities are to: Clean, disinfect, and prepare patient care equipment for use Inspect equipment for proper operation and report issues or damage Deliver and retrieve equipment between hospital departments and patient rooms Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment Maintain accurate records of equipment status and location Follow hospital infection control and safety procedures Respond promptly to equipment requests and urgent needs Assist with inventory organization and storage Communicate equipment issues to supervisors or biomedical staff Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One year experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is preferred. Basic knowledge of medical equipment and safety practices. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and reliability with good communication and teamwork skills. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certification in medical equipment cleaning or infection control is preferred but not required. Required Skills/Abilities Time management and prioritization Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital or medical facility environment Physical ability to lift, push, and transport equipment Basic computer or tracking system skills Commitment to cleanliness, safety, and patient care Frequent walking, standing, and lifting Exposure to clinical areas while following safety protocols Ability to work evening, weekend, or on-call shifts
