Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral & Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all new referrals and work to ensure seamless entry to our clinic and optimal reimbursement. Your expertise in medical records, insurance benefits, experience obtaining and working referrals, and health insurance policies will drive efficiency and accuracy across all administrative functions. This is an in-office position. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. Review records to verify they meet insurance requirements. Process referrals efficiently by coordinating with specialists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient transitions. Manage medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and clinical confidentiality policies. Utilize Microsoft Office applications to generate reports, track insurance claims, and maintain detailed records of all transactions. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare administrative role with familiarity in medical billing, coding, and insurance verification. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and prior authorization procedures. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient information at all times. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and reporting purposes. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
