Job Description

Cornwall Medical Center is home to Mt. Shuksan Family Medicine and Dermatology, Advanced Sports Chiropractic and Massage, and Align Chiropractic and Massage . We're a busy, privately-owned clinic in the heart of Bellingham, WA, offering primary care, chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture services. As the Patient Access and Billing Representative at Cornwall Medical Center, you'll work alongside a dedicated team that is committed to providing exceptional medical care to help our patients achieve their goals. In coordination with the Billing and Patient Services Representative teams, this position provides administrative support for the day-to-day billing, intake, and front desk operations of the clinic businesses and key components of the patient experience. Duties involve all or some of the following, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Claims Processing Assistant Prepare and process claims for submission Assist with claim denials Resolve billing discrepances Write and send appeals Claim denial tracking and corrections follow-up Other duties as assigned
Patient Services Representative:
Front desk reception duties that include: Greet patients Schedule appointments Collect copays, balances, and late fees Answer phones, email, and text communication Review patient paperwork to ensure accuracy Scan and upload patient documents and organize them appropriately Effectively manage patient flow Coordinate with Medical Assistants and Nurse Practitioners Other duties as assigned
Intake Representative:
Process new patient paperwork Build new patient profiles in EHR systems Collect insurance information and perform insurance eligibility Call patients to establish new patient appointments Track and process treatment referrals Participate in team meetings Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Insurance billing. (No prior experience in insurance billing required; comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided) Referral processing Proficient in using standard computer programs and office equipment: Microsoft/Office 365, including Teams, Excel and Word & Health Information Systems/EHR Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Accurately perform detail work & efficient keyboarding & data entry Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively Ability to adapt to process and procedure changes Ability to thrive and grow in a changing, fast-paced, learning environment Highly self-motivated and skilled individual who has strong attention to detail Discern and maintain confidentiality, in compliance with applicable State and federal laws (i.e. HIPAA) Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines concerning patient records Committed to continuous improvement and innovative solutions Excellent time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Comprehend and communicate information accurately and clearly (verbally and in writing, in person and via phone) with patients, all levels of personnel, and other individuals and groups. Provide excellent customer service in a positive and helpful manner Establish good employee relations, including conflict resolution Medical office experience is helpful but not required. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma Medical office: 2 years (preferred) Billing/insurance experience (preferred)
Physical Requirements :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk and sit Hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and listen attentively Adheres to assigned work schedule (attendance and punctuality) Work as part of a team; model a positive work ethic & customer-friendly relations The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Work Schedule:
TBD Monday through Friday On average: 30% front desk, 60% billing/insurance verification, 10% intakes
Typical Start Time:
8:00
AM Typical End Time:
5:00 PM 35-40 hours per week
Compensation:
Salary range: $20-23/hr
