Full-time Job Summary:
The Patient Access Technician (PAT) serves as the first point of contact for patients and a critical control point in the Wellness Center's revenue cycle while supporting culturally responsive patient care and access. This position is responsible for accurate patient registration, insurance verification, eligibility determination, benefit coordination, and payor routing within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The PAT ensures that all demographic, insurance, and eligibility information is complete and accurate prior to services being rendered to support compliance, proper Purchased Referred Care PRC/Direct/Ineligible routing, charge capture integrity, and reimbursement. This is not an entry-level clerical position. It requires prior healthcare office experience, proficiency with EHR systems, and a working knowledge of insurance and government payer programs. The PAT directly impacts billing accuracy, reimbursement outcomes, regulatory compliance, and the overall patient financial experienceEducation & Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of healthcare office experience required. A minimum of one (1) year experience working within an EHR system required, (EPIC/Dentrix experience preferred). Demonstrated experience with insurance verification, eligibility determination, and government payer programs (Medicaid, Medicare, PRC or equivalent). Knowledge of patient registration workflows and healthcare revenue cycle processes. Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate multiple electronic systems simultaneously. Strong understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. Excellent customer service and communication skills in a healthcare setting.Job Type:
