Job Summary:
Maintains and manages the trauma and acute care surgery registries. Responsibilities include analyzing various data reports to accurately identify patients for inclusion in the trauma and acute care surgery registry; data abstraction from hospital computer systems and medical records for defined trauma patient population, and coding of patients' injuries. Maintains responsibility for assuring the accuracy of data, completion of deficient areas, statistical reporting and analysis. Performs and supervises data entry into the computer and generates trauma and acute care surgery registry reports, both standard and customized.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
A minimum of 1 year of Healthcare experience is required. Previous experience in managing a computerized database/registry is preferred. Experience as a prehospital provider, CNA or LPN preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION
Associate degree or equivalent healthcare experience is required. Bachelor's degree in healthcare field is preferred.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION
Knowledge of EPIC electronic medical record desired.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and trauma injuries; Knowledge and skills in Microsoft software applications. Ability to effectively communicate with physicians and other health care professionals. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding or trauma and acute care surgery registry skills preferred.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION
AAAM Coding certificate is required within a year of hire. ATS trauma registry course offered by Froedtert within one year of hire.
