Job Description

The Patient Financial Counselor offers guidance and assists patients/guarantors in finding ways to meet their financial obligations for services provided at any of the Door County Medical Center departments. The FC will notify insurance companies of admissions to begin the pre-certification process and supply information about the patient, turning it over to Utilization Review for clinical information. They will contact insurance companies to ensure various services are approved for patients and will help obtain insurance benefits for patients as needed. This position will work directly with providers and their staff, as well as insurance and pharmaceutical companies, to meet the needs of these patients.
Minimum Education:
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum Related Years of Experience ( per minimum education ): Two years healthcare or insurance experience.
Credential/Licensure Required :
Certified Application Counselor within 180 days of employment.
Shift:
Working 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday.
