Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist (Reception) to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a wide range of administrative and clinical responsibilities. Your energetic approach will ensure smooth patient flow, accurate data entry, and efficient appointment scheduling. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their identity, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Schedule appointments accurately and efficiently, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans. Collect and document patient information while reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and routing calls appropriately. Assist with medical billing and collections by processing payments, submitting claims using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and ensuring proper documentation review. Maintain organized medical records, file documents securely, and support electronic health records (EHR) management using systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix. Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as medical scheduling, intake procedures, and care plan documentation. Skills Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, billing, and collections. Proficiency in EHR system. Familiarity with medical terminology and Medicare guidelines. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and active listening abilities. Previous clinic or medical office experience is essential. Strong computer skills is a plus. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
