JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for greeting and directing all patients, visitors, callers, and staff members in a courteous and professional manner. Responsible for answering all incoming phone calls into the department. Arranges for the accurate, efficient, and orderly scheduling and accurate and comprehensive registration of patients for services at our facility. Acquires all required signatures for permission to treat, release of patient information, assignment of benefits forms required for entitlement programs and insurance purposes, also accepts patient payments. This Receptionist is responsible for updating or obtaining accurate demographic, financial, medical record, and insurance information. Responsibilities also include verifying, auditing, researching, and updating patient information and ensuring that our database is accurate. Responsible for running eligibility verification on all self-pay entitlement and commercial insurance accounts to ensure accurate demographic information; scanning patient insurance and/or entitlement cards into our system; reviews all visits to ensure all information has been updated. Accurately calculates patient copayment, co-insurance and deductible and requests for patient copayments at the time of registration. Responsible for courteously and professionally reminding patients of their appointments and courteously works with patients when changes in the schedule are necessary. Responsible for identifying patients that may require financial assistance and providing them with a Medical Assistance Application and explanation of the program. Responsible for distribution and replenishment of supplies throughout the Department, which may include completion of associated paperwork and data entry for ordering of such supplies. Must believe in and promote the mission and vision of Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent communication skills, data entry, and basic computer skills. Medical terminology knowledge and organizational skills preferred.
