PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation ALD Position Overview:
Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (may be evidenced by
RCP/RRT/CRT
license)
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist) or experience with PFT testing is preferred. CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist) or experience with PFT testing is preferred.
DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider if required at the entity ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support if required by entity PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support if required by entity
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE
2 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline. General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC. Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options. Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI). Build collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
