A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Rehabilitation - is responsible for facilitating the training of patients with pulmonary disease inan outpatient setting. Responsibilities of the program include instructing patients with how to live with chronic disease providing education and exercise.Responsibilities:
- Provides pulmonary rehab program education and exercise classes either group or 1:1 two times per week for 6 weeks
- Oversees the alumni maintenance exercise program offered 3 times per week
- Provides airway clearance 1:1 sessions per physician order
- Performs 6 Minute Walk Tests
- Fulfills all compliance and database responsibilities related to this position
- Performs other duties as assigned by Department leadership
Education Skills Experience:
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Respiratory Care
- Minimum of 3 years job related experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist
- State of Ct License as Respiratory Care Practitioner
- BLS for health care providers
- Microsoft office skills - Word, Excel and Powerpoint Pulmonary rehabilitation experience preferred.
