Respiratory Therapist Assistant - Per Diem/As Needed

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant assists the Respiratory Therapists, as needed, in routine limited, patient contact assignments/discharge planning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the below. Other duties may be assigned.- Cleans and disinfects, equipment used in administration of respiratory therapy.
- Maintains and monitors use of oxygen for patients under the direction of Respiratory Care Practitioners.
- Maintains all respiratory therapy equipment for set up and readiness. This will include, but is not limited to ventilators, O2 packs, Vapotherm, BiPAP and CPAP devices.
- Delivers oxygen tanks and other equipment and supplies to specified hospital locations.
- Performs ECGs as ordered. Completes associated paperwork.
- Responds to all hospital emergencies to include Code Blue and Rapid Response calls as needed.
- Assures all needed equipment is available and acts as a runner if needed.
- Keeps Inventory of hospital equipment, informs Respiratory Supervisor or Director if equipment needs to be rented.
- Completes Respiratory charges on a daily basis.
- Upon request and in the absence of the Respiratory Discharge Liaison, Monitors discharge list and informs Respiratory Care Practitioners of pending discharges.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Patient care experience preferred
- Ability to conduct Electrocardiograms preferred
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification required
