Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders across a variety of clinical settings. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team Administer respiratory treatments and medications, including nebulized therapies and other aerosolized medications, according to provider orders and established protocols Initiate, manage, and wean patients from invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in accordance with evidence-based guidelines Perform arterial blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation, and adjust therapy based on clinical status and results Respond to respiratory-related emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, providing airway management and ventilatory support Monitor patients' respiratory status, document all interventions and assessments accurately in the electronic medical record, and communicate changes promptly to providers and nursing staff Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, equipment use (e.g., inhalers, CPAP/Bi PAP), home care strategies, and medication adherence Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and ensure proper infection control and safety practices Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to care planning and discharge planning for patients with respiratory needs Support orientation and mentoring of new Respiratory Therapists or students and participate in ongoing quality improvement and professional development activities Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management (invasive and non-invasive) Arterial blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation Administration of aerosolized medications and respiratory therapies Airway management during emergencies and codes Use and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment (ventilators, CPAP/Bi PAP, oxygen delivery systems) Knowledge of respiratory pathophysiology and evidence-based respiratory care protocols Proficiency with electronic medical records documentation Infection prevention and equipment sterilization practices Patient and family education related to respiratory care Collaboration and communication in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
