7:00 p.m.- 7:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist (RT) specializes in the evaluation, treatment, and care of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. The role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver respiratory care to individuals suffering from conditions like asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and those requiring ventilator support.
Job Duties:
  • Administration of respiratory care modalities/procedures upon the order of the physician in our Vent Unit.
  • Carrying out respiratory care procedures as outlined within acceptable standards and practices.
Therapeutic Treatments:
Administer therapies such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and mechanical ventilation support.
    Ventilator Management:
    Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilators for patients requiring ventilator support, especially in critical care or long-term care settings.
      Emergency Care:
      Respond to respiratory emergencies, including airway management and resuscitation.
      • Walk-thru shift start/end clinical reports with on-coming respiratory personnel.
      • Sharing/receiving relevant and vital information for the effective resident plan of care.
      • Complying with Policy-Procedure regarding medical record documentation.
      • Demonstrates the required clinical skills to ensure safe and effective respiratory care therapy.
      • Ensuring timeliness of all treatments and ventilator clinical rounds surveillance.
      • Provides timely, accurate and effective resident respiratory evaluations in response to care needs.
      • Always maintain infection control practices inclusive of disposable supply changes.
      • Timely transport of respiratory residents within Facility & OOB assistance as needed.
      • Responding to continuous ventilator alarming within 15 second time interval.
      • Present friendly and caring bedside manner to all residents.
      • Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
      Qualifications:
      Education :
      Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
      Licensing/Certification :
      Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist, typically requiring certification (CRT or RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
      Experience :
      Experience in acute care settings (hospital or skilled nursing facility) is preferred.
      Skills :
      Strong knowledge of respiratory treatments, equipment, and emergency procedures. Good communication and teamwork abilities are essential.
      Work Conditions:
      • Work is typically performed in a skilled nursing facility setting, with potential exposure to bodily fluids, chemicals, and other hazardous materials.
      • Full-time, part-time, or PRN shifts may be available, including weekends and holidays as needed.
      • Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
      • May require occasional evening or weekend hours, particularly during outbreaks, emergencies, or survey preparation.
      • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for infection control purposes.
      • May be required to lift and carry objects over 10 lbs.
      • Must be able to assist with or maneuver equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, and Hoyer lifts
      • Frequent walking, standing, and occasional bending or kneeling may be necessary when conducting audits or inspections throughout the facility.
      • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE as required and lift educational materials or small equipment.
