What they do

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Responsibilities •
SIGN ON BONUS UP TO
$5,000 AVAILABLE• (Full time, Nights, Piedmont Macon Medical Center)
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Performing patient assessments, general respiratory care procedures and protocols, critical care procedures in adult care areas, blood gas analysis, maintenance and management of all equipment and patient education. Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Previous Working Experience in Respiratory care, or successful completion of department specific orientation including skills validation of competencies for the duties and responsibilities of this level.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW
Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)and Licensed by the State of Georgia under the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
BLS, ACLS
(ALS can be used in place of ACLS) and PALS required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Current certifications in
BCLS, ACLS.
Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required competencies.
