Memorial Health in Savannah, GA is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care treatments, manage ventilator support, perform diagnostic tests, and educate patients and families. You will collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and implement physician-ordered treatment plans for patients across acute and critical care settings. Set up, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation, adjusting settings based on patient condition and protocols. Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and other respiratory modalities, documenting patient responses accurately. Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, interpret results, and communicate critical findings to the care team promptly. Conduct pulmonary function tests and other diagnostic procedures as ordered, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies, including patient distress and code situations, providing airway management and life-supporting interventions. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use (such as inhalers and home oxygen), and strategies for disease management and prevention. Ensure proper operation, cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment, reporting issues and coordinating maintenance as needed. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust individualized care plans. Follow strict infection prevention, safety, and quality standards to support optimal patient outcomes and regulatory compliance. Participate in ongoing education, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives within the respiratory therapy and broader care team at Memorial Health.
