Respiratory Technician Mercy Medical Center - 3.6 Cedar Rapids, IA Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications BLS Certification Full Job Description Work Shift Variable/Rotating Shifts Scheduled Weekly Hours 0 Summary This job supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by providing bedside respiratory care to patients as assigned by supervisors and given on the physician's written order for both in house and outpatient care. Job Description Job Duties Performs all forms of respiratory therapy according to prescribed physician orders and standing written policies and procedures. Performs general respiratory therapy modalities. Performs noninvasive cardiology procedures such as EKGs in the Emergency Department, and completes necessary paperwork. Performs oximetry spot checks and oximetry sleep studies and accurately processes corresponding paperwork. Performs equipment function, check out, and cleaning as necessary in accordance with Respiratory Department policies and procedures. Performs ABG sticks and utilizes the I-Stat machine. ABG results are communicated to nursing staff or physician. Provides patient education on all modalities of Respiratory Care. Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of anatomy and physiology as related to respiratory system. Use of calculator, verbal and written medical terminology. Should possess excellent communication skills. Professional Experience Previous work as allied health professional or related field preferred. Education A current student of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Licensure, Certification, Registration BCLS required.
