Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Job Summary:

Respiratory Therapist (RT) Pediatric (PEDS) position located in Carbondale, Illinois. This role involves providing respiratory care to pediatric patients within a healthcare facility, supporting patient outcomes, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team. The position requires a compassionate approach to patient education and clinical practice, with a focus on quality care delivery during night shifts.

Schedule:

Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications:

Associates degree in respiratory therapy, Illinois license as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP-MHC) certification are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in pediatric respiratory care is advantageous. Responsibilities include evaluating patient outcomes, modifying care plans within the multidisciplinary team, providing respiratory treatments as ordered by physicians, educating patients and responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes and interventions, and sharing clinical knowledge with staff and students. Flexibility to accept reassignment to other units when necessary is required. The candidate must be licensed and certified as specified to be considered for this role.
