What they do
A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Details Schedule:
Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per weekRequired Qualifications:
Illinois State license, ACLS, BLS, PALS, RRT certifications, and a minimum of 0 years of experiencePreferred Qualifications:
Community hospital experience, Level I or II trauma experience, Neonatal/Pediatrics setting experience, and Cerner charting system experienceFloat:
Float rotation may be required to meet facility needs, including within scope of practiceAdditional Information:
The role includes assisting with bronchoscopies, night and daySAT / SBT
responsibilities, and responding to emergency department calls for codes, traumas, and severe respiratory distress. The position covers all age groups and diagnoses, with special emphasis on neonatal and pediatric care during RSV season utilizing high-flow nasal cannula and other specialized equipment including Drager V500 ventilators, EV 300 Bipaps, V60 Bipaps, and ResMed PAP devices.
